Rustic red, sunburnt desert scenes, immense blue skies contrasting with the reds and oranges of the earth, hazy depictions of the quiet bush, storming clouds, burnt landscapes, gorges, rivers, waterholes, clay pans and of course white gum trees.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.artchat.com.au\/?attachment_id=911\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-911\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-911\" title=\"Piers Bateman\" src=\"http:\/\/www.artchat.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/PB.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"395\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.artchat.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/PB.jpg 800w, https:\/\/www.artchat.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/PB-300x148.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/a>Bateman began his career in 1966 after spending eighteen months in London. On returning to Australia he held his first exhibition and from that moment he has never turned back. He went on to build a mud brick studio in the bush, sailed Greece and spent more time in Europe developing his style.<\/p>\n<p>Bateman soon became one of the most sought after Australian landscape painters with his works in many corporate collections such as the <a href=\"http:\/\/rba.clients.pageup.com.au\/content.asp?stp=GW&amp;staticID=rba_life_transcripts\" target=\"_blank\">Reserve Bank of Australia<\/a>, the<a href=\"http:\/\/www.usa.embassy.gov.au\/whwh\/home.html\" target=\"_blank\"> Australian Embassy in Washington,<\/a> the Caterpillar foundation in Chicago and Moscow\u2019s Bolshoi Ballet Company. He is also admired by many high profiled Australians\u2019 with sporting legend Greg Norman, politician Andrew Peacock and business magnate and former British lions rugby union test winger Tony O\u2019Reilly collecting his paintings.<\/p>\n<p>Red Hill will be showcasing Piers\u2019s new body of work in his exhibition \u201c<em>Footprints On The Land<\/em>\u201d from the 7<sup>th<\/sup> of September.
