{"id":748,"date":"2012-06-12T10:40:05","date_gmt":"2012-06-12T00:40:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.artchat.com.au\/?p=748"},"modified":"2012-06-12T10:45:24","modified_gmt":"2012-06-12T00:45:24","slug":"artchat-blog-interview-number-11-%e2%80%93-todd-whisson","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.artchat.com.au\/?p=748","title":{"rendered":"ArtChat [Blog Interview Number 11] \u2013 Todd Whisson"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb_share_1\" style=\"float: right; margin-left: 10px;\"><a name=\"fb_share\" type=\"icon_link\" share_url=\"https:\/\/www.artchat.com.au\/?p=748\" href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/sharer.php\">Share<\/a><\/div><div><script src=\"http:\/\/static.ak.fbcdn.net\/connect.php\/js\/FB.Share\" type=\"text\/javascript\"><\/script><\/div><p><a href=\"http:\/\/redhillgallery.com.au\/ToddWhisson2012.html\" target=\"_blank\">Todd Whisson creates an impression at Red Hill Gallery.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>His works have received an outstanding amount of attention, the consideration of light and colour within his paintings are a breath of fresh air.<\/p>\n<p>For an artist, Todd Whisson is a late bloomer.\u00a0 Despite being the son of a professional artist, and childhood memories steeped in the scent of paint, Todd only began painting in his early twenties.\u00a0 His latest collection exhibiting at Brisbane\u2019s Red Hill Gallery in June 2012 is an excellent example of being \u2018better late than never\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>When Todd decided to give up his job as a framer in 2003 to become a full-time artist, he drew on his fascination with French Impressionism and tailored his own approach to suit the spectacular coastal scenery and landscapes of Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria, the beauty of Todd\u2019s work is his commitment to new interpretations of old techniques.<\/p>\n<p>For Todd to have achieved such success in a few short years certainly makes him an artist to watch in the future.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.artchat.com.au\/?attachment_id=751\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-751\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-751\" title=\"Todd Whisson\" src=\"http:\/\/www.artchat.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/WHISSON2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"344\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.artchat.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/WHISSON2.jpg 800w, https:\/\/www.artchat.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/WHISSON2-300x129.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/a><strong>AC:\u00a0 What inspires you to create?<br \/>\nTW:\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong> Inner desire to express my love and passion for colour, light and atmosphere.<\/p>\n<p><strong>AC:\u00a0 In three words describe your art<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>TW:\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong> Fresh, spontaneous and expressive<\/p>\n<p><strong>AC:\u00a0 How do you spend your leisure time?<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>TW:<\/strong>\u00a0 I love travelling with my partner Julianne, stumbling along and discovering new and unique places to paint \u201cPlein Air\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><strong>AC: Who is your role model or the person you most admire?<br \/>\nTW:\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0 I most admire Matisse for his drive and ambition to continually be himself.
