On Friday 10 August, the gallery will open its door for what is sure to be a memorable Hinchliffe extravaganza. With scenes from New York, London, Paris, Brisbane and many more, this globe trotting artists style is sure to steal the hearts of many art lovers and collectors.<\/p>\n<p>Since his first solo exhibition in 1976 in Toowoomba Australia at the age of 21, Hinchliffe has had more than 60 solo exhibitions including paintings, sculpture and photographs in locations around the world. He has been painting, exhibiting and selling his work in galleries since the age of 12 and won numerous competitions as a young artist (Sunday Mail Art Prize, ABC Argonauts Award, Atlantic City Sculpture Award, Toowoomba Gemini prize). He is also a regular finalist in Tattersalls Landscape Prize. Described by the late Australian Artist James Gleeson as having an &#8220;exceptional talent&#8221;, he has emerged from 3 decades of work in\u00a0the public domain\u00a0to return with renewed passion\u00a0to his career as a painter.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4053\" src=\"http:\/\/www.artchat.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/blog6.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"723\" height=\"143\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.artchat.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/blog6.jpg 723w, https:\/\/www.artchat.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/blog6-300x59.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 723px) 100vw, 723px\" \/>Hinchliffe\u2019s recent work deals with the urban environment in its many forms in cities around the world as well as an abiding affinity with the Australian landscape. It is a response to light. He likes the movement of light across a surface \u2014 whether it be a valley, river, street or the human form.<\/p>\n<p>He particularly enjoys the shapes, the noise and the shadows of city landscapes \u2013 whether it\u2019s the drama of lower East Side in New York, the reflections in the canals of Venice, the romance of Paris streets, the crowded pedestrian footpaths of Brisbane city, or the treed streets near his home in inner suburban New Farm and studio in Fortitude Valley Australia.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cI know it\u2019s fashionable to say that painting is a \u2018release\u2019 from the pressures of the world or that the act of painting keeps the artist \u2018sane\u2019. I don\u2019t find that at all. I feel quite \u2018insane\u2019 when I\u2019m painting.
