With several successful solo and group exhibitions under his belt, this is bound to be a big one.<\/p>\n<p>A classically trained artist and graduate of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.designcollege.com.au\/\">Australian Design College<\/a>, Dean\u2019s works are highly acclaimed for their style, design and variation. His paintings are part of many prestigious collections all over the world and he continues to delight with his unique approach to painting.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.redhillgallery.com.au\/index.html\">Red Hill Gallery <\/a>Curator and Director Margaret Campbell-Ryder believes\u00a0Reilly is a quality collectable artist with an amazing future.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c\u2018<a href=\"http:\/\/www.redhillgallery.com.au\/DeanReilly2015.html\">Looking for Fantastic\u2019 <\/a>isn\u2019t just the exhibition name; it is the eternal idea encompassing this exciting new study of works. Each piece is fantastic and shows the outstanding journey Reilly has been on,\u201d Campbell-Ryder said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe do not see the images and ideas of our minds, we imagine them. They are blurred and morphed into feelings mostly unexplained. Like dreams, they are remembered and sometimes forgotten. They float like balloons in a magical sky. The exhibition is of my meanderings through that magical sky. What was the inspiration behind the body of works?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>DR: I really wanted to lift my work to the next level the only way to do this was to aim for the \u2018fantastic\u2019.<\/p>\n<p><strong>AC:\u00a0 If you could be anything, what would you be?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>DR:\u00a0 Fantastic.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3630\" src=\"http:\/\/www.artchat.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/fghfghfghfg.png\" alt=\"fghfghfghfg\" width=\"644\" height=\"248\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.artchat.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/fghfghfghfg.png 644w, https:\/\/www.artchat.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/fghfghfghfg-300x116.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 644px) 100vw, 644px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>AC:\u00a0 As an artist, what was the best piece of advice you ever received?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>DR: No way, is way and no limitation is the limitation (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.brucelee.com\/\">Bruce Lee<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p><strong>AC:\u00a0 If you could choose 4 people to have dinner with, who would you choose?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>DR: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bruceleefoundation.org\/index.cfm\/pid\/10585\">Bruce Lee<\/a>, Jesus Christ, <a href=\"http:\/\/oa.anu.edu.au\/obituary\/packer-kerry-francis-17045\">Kerry Packer<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aynrand.org\/\">Ayn Rand<\/a>. I would take them to a great restaurant called <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bridgesbali.com\/\">\u2018Bridges\u2019<\/a> in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lonelyplanet.com\/indonesia\/bali\/ubud\">Ubud<\/a>,<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bali.com\/\"> Bali<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>AC:\u00a0 What is your favourite TV Show at the moment?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>DR: \u2018Sorry\u2019 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hbo.com\/game-of-thrones\">Game of Thrones<\/a>, it is fantastic.<\/p>\n<p><strong>AC:\u00a0 You display a wonderful sense humour in your paintings is there one particular piece in this exhibition that displays this the most.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>DR: \u201cThe possibility of humour in the mind of someone serious\u201d.\u00a0 Poker dots on a man eater, certainly isn\u2019t serious.\u00a0 It started off as an ode to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.damienhirst.com\/\">Damian Hirst<\/a> and his twelve million dollar shark. What was the process behind this specific style?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>DR: The whole exhibition explores the notion and the complexities of personalities which I thought could be expressed through a juxtaposition of different elements. I really like the feeling they give rather than what they are.<\/p>\n<p><strong>AC:\u00a0 Your style sometimes seems futuristic in a sense, where do you see yourself in the future?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>DR: Still looking for fantastic, as fantastic is a shifting horizon that will always be in the future.<\/p>\n<p><strong>AC: Who is your favourite Super Hero?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>DR: Bond, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.007.com\/\">James Bond<\/a>, great suits, can\u2019t beat a hero with style.<\/p>\n<p><strong>AC:\u00a0 You have painted a compelling series of faces, you obviously enjoy studying people, but how do you put a name to a face?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>DR:\u00a0 You must remember these people don\u2019t exist, they are fabricated personalities and they are inspired by media pseudonyms.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3626\" src=\"http:\/\/www.artchat.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/Capturegfhfgh.jpg\" alt=\"Capturegfhfgh\" width=\"680\" height=\"115\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.artchat.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/Capturegfhfgh.jpg 680w, https:\/\/www.artchat.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/Capturegfhfgh-300x51.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 680px) 100vw, 680px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>AC:\u00a0 The men in our works are cultured, cultivated, conversant and renaissance, so how would you describe yourself?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>DR: Dreamer, Doer but I wish I was a Debonair.<\/p>\n<p><strong>AC:\u00a0 Looking for Fantastic&#8230;.. So did you find it?&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;.
