Adrienne <span class=\"style11\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">has been sketching and painting ancient grass trees\u00a0from\u00a0around her rural home in <a href=\"http:\/\/queenslandplaces.com.au\/mount-perry-and-perry-shire\">Mt Perry<\/a>. In her recent series Adrienne combines traditional landscape elements with the lush blues and greens from recent rains, and vivid\u00a0colours from regional biodiversity maps. These works of hope express her love of wild places through a contemporary colourist&#8217;s interpretation.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"  wp-image-3565 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/www.artchat.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/1.png\" alt=\"1\" width=\"206\" height=\"296\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.artchat.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/1.png 326w, https:\/\/www.artchat.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/1-209x300.png 209w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 206px) 100vw, 206px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #373737; font-family: 'Helvetica','sans-serif'; font-size: 11.5pt;\">An early sunrise pickup made for a beautiful walk out on the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.openspaceauthority.org\/trails\/sierra.html\">Sierra Vista Trail<\/a> \u2013 it would be difficult to tire of the view of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.organmountains.org\/\">Organ Mountains<\/a>. I have a feeling there will be a lot of vegetation picture posting, as the plant life is extraordinary.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #373737; font-family: 'Helvetica','sans-serif'; font-size: 11.5pt;\">These first few days have taken some settling in, like a nesting process. Gathering \u2018places\u2019 and materials and the basics, Catherine and Dave have both been very generous and BRAVE, loaning me their cars, and I head off on my first solo adventure in the morning \u2013 returning to this trail and a couple of spots along the way that got me excited about sketching.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3566\" src=\"http:\/\/www.artchat.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/2.png\" alt=\"2\" width=\"921\" height=\"693\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.artchat.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/2.png 921w, https:\/\/www.artchat.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/2-300x226.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 921px) 100vw, 921px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"background: white; color: #373737; line-height: 115%; font-family: 'Helvetica','sans-serif'; font-size: 11.5pt;\">Up close to the rocks, it\u2019s hard to resist some rock rubbing, such a beautiful and fast way to add some ground to the paper. (Thanks for the pic, Dave.) I was taught to wash water over the reverse side of the paper and this allows the paper to press into the rock. Smooth paper is best, and I was using a graphite stick. There\u2019s something nice about the landscape itself helping form the bones of the sketch.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"  wp-image-3567 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/www.artchat.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/3.png\" alt=\"3\" width=\"277\" height=\"187\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.artchat.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/3.png 485w, https:\/\/www.artchat.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/3-300x202.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 277px) 100vw, 277px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"background: white; color: #373737; line-height: 115%; font-family: 'Helvetica','sans-serif'; font-size: 11.5pt;\">Post-hike found me back at the art shop and seeking lots of advice on the brands and medium styles foreign to me. I had planned to postpone working in colour for now, but discovered resistance is useless! I did manage to bring an AS Australian Red Gold from home.
