You can see his amazing new work at his 2014 exhibition at <a title=\"Red Hill Gallery\" href=\"http:\/\/www.redhillgallery.com.au\" target=\"_blank\">Red Hill Gallery Brisbane<\/a>\u00a0on October 10th. We found\u00a0Stephen prior to exhibition opening and had a chat.<\/p>\n<p><strong>AC: Your work portrays a great deal of imagination. Is that something you have always had?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>SG: \u00a0As a <a title=\"Figurative Sculptors\" href=\"http:\/\/figurativesculptors.com\" target=\"_blank\">figurative sculptor <\/a>my first challenge was to master the anatomy.\u00a0Once I felt I had achieved that goal, I looked to expand my creative energy .It took a while to find ways to bend my thoughts .But once I had discovered the potential of my ideas, they just began to flow.<\/p>\n<p><strong>AC: We hear that you name your pieces before you decide what they will look like, so where does the inspiration for the names come from.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>SG: I like to look for clich\u00e9s or common phrases that possess the potential for a double meaning.\u00a0That gives me the chance to view the phrase in a different perspective, in a way that it may not have originally been intended.<\/p>\n<p><strong>AC: The Art Deco period is prominent in your work, is that something personal to you or has it evolved over time.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>SG: <a title=\"art Deco\" href=\"http:\/\/www.artdeco.org.au\" target=\"_blank\">Art Deco <\/a>and <a title=\"Art Nouveau\" href=\"http:\/\/www.theartstory.org\/movement-art-nouveau.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Art Nouveau, <\/a>was my first passion, when at College.\u00a0It has always had an influence, but now my creative thoughts are as important .<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.artchat.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/StephenGlassborow02.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3076\" src=\"http:\/\/www.artchat.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/StephenGlassborow02.jpg\" alt=\"Stephen Glassborow\" width=\"760\" height=\"506\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.artchat.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/StephenGlassborow02.jpg 760w, https:\/\/www.artchat.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/StephenGlassborow02-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 760px) 100vw, 760px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>AC: What would you say would be the most inspiring environment for you to create in?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>SG: Early in the morning or at my local coffee shop.\u00a0Ideas appear when I least expect them. Often I don&#8217;t know where they come from, or why, they just are.<\/p>\n<p><strong>AC: Do you have a favourite piece of work? What do you love about it?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>SG: At the moment I love working on my Mini Series.\u00a0They are small\u00a0 intimate and relatively quick for me to create <a title=\"Red Hill Gallery\" href=\"http:\/\/redhillgallery.com.au\" target=\"_blank\">Bronze sculptures<\/a> take so long to make , and I am limited to creating \u00a06 new pieces a year, at the most. Miniatures allow me to give birth to ideas relatively fast, some have been wandering around in my head for years.<br \/>\n<strong>AC: If you had an artist dinner party, which 3 famous artists would you absolutely have to invite.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>SG: \u00a0<a title=\"Clase oldenburg\" href=\"http:\/\/www.oldenburgvanbruggen.com\" target=\"_blank\">Clase Oldenburg<\/a>, <a title=\"banksy\" href=\"http:\/\/banksystreetart\" target=\"_blank\">Banksy<\/a> , and <a title=\"Leonardo da vinci\" href=\"http:\/\/www.leonardoda-vinci.org\" target=\"_blank\">Leonardo Da Vinci<\/a>.
