It should come as no surprise that at age 17, receiving his first significant art prize, Pekel rocked up on stage wearing his school uniform.<\/p>\n<p>Pekel is a true designer of paintings. His mastery of capturing the spontaneous effects of light and atmosphere is apparent in the quick, broad strokes of his oil paintings on exhibit at <a title=\"Brisbane\u2019s Red Hill Gallery\" href=\"http:\/\/www.redhillgallery.com.au\/Contact.php\" target=\"_blank\">Brisbane\u2019s Red Hill Gallery<\/a>. Pekel effortlessly combines his knowledge of artistic tradition and quality with an intimate appreciation of the unique light of the land down under.<\/p>\n<p><b>\u201cIf it is light, leave it white\u201d \u2013 <a title=\"Robert Regis Dvorak\" href=\"http:\/\/www.youcreate.com\/HOME-YOUCREATE.COM.html\" target=\"_blank\">Robert Regis Dvorak<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n<p>Painting with fellow Australian artist Joseph Zbukvic and <a title=\"Alvaro Castagnet\" href=\"http:\/\/www.alvarocastagnet.net\/\" target=\"_blank\">Alvaro Castagnet<\/a>, the \u201cthree amigos\u201d emphasise that when it comes to painting, it\u2019s not about what you put in but what you leave out.
